Well I am still working on the top of my socks, and I am wondering about an effective cast off (bind off). Will I be able to do it properly? Will I have enough stretch in the calf? Then there will be the afterthought heel as Christopher Archie calls it. I lose confidence all of a sudden just thinking about it. I can't wait for when I have some free time from my Landmark Education activities to get back to some knitting. So much for Michelle Obama talking about the Glass Ceiling. I would suggest she give up that hope for the next 25 years, and then maybe it might get shattered (or not). It takes two hands to clap.

Just bind off with a needle 4 or 5 sizes larger than the socks. We can pick up the stitches for the heel on Thursday and weave the heel closed on the bus to Rhinebeck. You can wear them at Rhinebeck.
