This is my first day and my first blog (March of 2008). I saw something today (on my day off) on PBS 13. It was mindblowing for me! You see, I always thought that Bob Dylan started a movement with his poetry but I found out that another man started it. Bob Dylan advanced the social revolution by covering his songs.
The name of that man is Pete Seeger. This man wrote songs from his heart that made people speak up and act on behalf of others. He reminded me what it is to be a true Christian. And I am not a Christian in the traditional sense of the word. I was born into a home that straddled three religions and I was taught that people matters. The songs of Pete Seeger reverberates in my heart.
When I see people around the world and in the United States of America being disenfranchised, it gets me mad! We need to speak up people! We can do this! We will and can make a difference in the world! That's why I knit Helmet-Liners for the troops. They matter! They matter because they don't ask why, they just do what they are told to do. They are the buffer between us and the people who would hurt us.
Where have all the young men gone, long time passing?
Where have all the young men gone, long time ago?
Where have all the young men gone? Gone for soldiers, ev'ry one.
When will they ever learn?
Oh, when will they ever learn?
